POETRY

I write poetry in my native language: Swedish. Native language is the gateway to our inner Self. Poetry, like visual art, is a bridge connecting souls. The problem with poetry, if there is any, is language, the very heart of this beautiful, mysterious art form. We don't always understand each other's languages. Visual art is universal, we might experience an artwork from a foreign culture and understand it in our own personal way. But poetry written in a foreign language is hard to understand, if not impossible. I call myself a poet although I haven't published any of my poetry. I am an unofficial poet. I sent some of my poetry to some publishers. Most of them didn't say much, except that they weren't interested. One publisher said I didn't fit in. And that was great news. Poets are meant not to fit in. Poetry is written by outsiders for outsiders. This is the true nature of poetry. I've written poems all my life. I've also destroyed poems all my life. Some years ago I got a habit of writing one poem a day, not destroying them but publishing them for myself, keeping them in my shelf next to the poetry of others. In my imagination I am one of them. The power of poetry.

Missförstådd

bildkonstnären påstod

att han avbildade Gud

men det enda han ställde ut

var landskapsmåleri

Oförstådd

poeten kom till insikt

om ordens skönhet

men ingen förstod

vad hon ville ha sagt
